The short answer
Pavers are priced per square foot installed. As a typical estimate, a paver patio or walkway on the Grand Strand often falls somewhere around $15 to $30 per square foot, depending on the paver, pattern and site. Driveways need a deeper base and thicker pavers, so they usually cost more. These are rough ranges, not quotes.
What drives the price
- Square footage and shape: curves and lots of cuts take more labor
- Paver type: standard concrete pavers, tumbled or premium styles, travertine or permeable pavers
- Base depth: driveways need more than patios
- Removing old concrete, grass or decking
- Steps, seat walls, fire pits and borders
- Drainage work and access for equipment
Ways to control cost
Simple shapes, standard paver sizes and a single pattern keep labor down. You can also build a patio now and add a fire pit or seat wall later if it's planned in from the start.
Getting an accurate number
Ask each installer for the paver brand and style, base depth and material, edge restraint and joint sand they plan to use, so the quotes cover the same scope.
